The BCR2000 does not have a mackie mode like the bcf2000.
There are, however, several different mackie presets on this site and others.
I built one of them.
I think it works great.
It was made with Bcmanager.
I also made a demo of the preset in action it is on my site
http://shoshin.110mb.com/genmce/bcr2000/Presets/presets.htm
Why use a mackie mode?
- If you map all your controls the way you want them, you will be happy until, you move or delete a track. Or if you have more than 8 tracks.
- Say you delete track 4 or you want it next to track 7...Once you move or delete, you discover your wonderful map, no longer corresponds to the tracks you mapped. This really sucks too.
- I don't have Live 7, however, with live 6.0.10, you only get one template and it is very difficult to "apply" to existing projects, with out screwing up the project.
So let me describe -
With my mackie preset - you get
- 8 faders,
- 8 mutes, 8 solo's, 8 arms, 8 vpot selects.
- 8 pans/sends/plugin controls.
- Bank > and bank < buttons. These buttons let you control tracks 9-16, 17-24 etc... (all of the above functinos) without remaping controls! You hit the bank > button and now fader 1 controls track 9, fader 2 controls track 10 etc.
- If that is not enough, you also get a Returns button, when this is pressed, your faders and pans sends mutes all now control your return tracks, how ever many there are. I need to fix my Returns button, Stefan, made it so the button would remain on or off depending on button status. I will fix my preset soon. Actually, after you read below, you may want to try Stefan's preset, it has most of my functions plus some others.
- Transports included, with zoom and scrub, a jog wheel marker control etc as well as master fader as well as cursor up down, left right.
Are these presets perfect, no. However, once you get a chance to play with them you will see how powerful they are and you will not look back.
Of course you don't "have" to try them, however, honestly, what do you have to loose, except 1 preset on the bcr2000.
Do yourself a favor, the work has already been done. Try it.
From my site above, I don't claim that my preset is best, you can get my preset, I also made a fairly detailed manual for the preset as well as a deno movie.
Try it! It is free and already done.
Another user, stefan_soundstudies, here has developed a hybrid between the my mackie preset and the "device control" using bcr2000.

That is in the files>presets section. This works really well for plugin control, much easier to use than the plugin control of the mackie.
He also, created one that uses the mackie and emulation of the Remote_SL with a very nice display for both. I have an early alpha version of his program and preset. He has not released it to the public yet.
I hope he sees this and will release a new version soon.
What is so neat about it is, you get full mackie control, then 1 row of knobs is just for "device control", so whatever plugin you last clicked on is the one your 8 knobs are controlling.
I have emailed him a couple of times to find out if he is ready, however, I never heard back from him.
Stefan where are you???
