bcf 2000. trouble setting up act in sonar 8

2010-01-09 by clivemasters

This is my first post
Ive just bought a bcf 2000,which after lots of slow, dial up research I got working in mackie emulation mode with sonar8.
I'm trying to set it up with act as well to give me more control over plug-ins as it seems the mackie emulation is limited in this area. In the act midi controller page, I sent the midi initialisation message ', which seems to send a custom preset to the bc which I stored. Everything seems to work fine including remapping except getting the default buttons to do anything. In the comments box it says the shift modifier is 'upper bank channel 8'which is the only one in the upper row that shows any midi activity on the bc's led's when I press it.'transport play' according to the controllers page in sonar should be 'b3' but which button does this correspond to in the bc? I think I tried all of them.
When I remap the transport play with 'midi learn' which should be button b3 (transport play),the field above it which is 'shift b3'(transport record) is also looking for a parameter so how do I input the remap separately for both fields? Of course if i can find the default play and record buttons this wont be necessary!
Lastly on the act controllers page again is there a way of shifting through the 4 banks for example the faders, from the bc itself?

I know this wont mean much to someone not using sonar.Im trying to get on with writing music without having to learn too much haxadecimal and sysex stuff which apart from not having the time, I dont have the brain for, so if any answers could be in idiots terms I would be extremely grateful. If anyone is having trouble even getting as far as ive got i would be only too happy to share what ive learnt.
