Hello, I'm new to this group and use the BCR2000 to control the Fx in
Reaper. Reaper already allows for memory mapping of the bcr's cc &
midi channels to the parameters of fx if saved as an FX chain and also
for those mappings to only effect the current Fx for the currently
selected track.
This has made controlling fx's in reaper with the bcr somewhat
possible, though not perfectly ideal, by setting up 16 or 15 different
presets on the bcr each using separate midi channels 1-16. The
controls will "Jump" though undesirably if I use multiple instances of
the same fx on two different tracks.
If Reaper only full duplexed with the bcr it seems that soo many
problems would be fixed in trying to use a BCR2000 for this type of
control, and would really unleash the power of the continuous rotary
midi controller.
Does anyone here know how to write full duplex support for reaper so
that after you have saved your mappings for all of your fx, reaper
would simply send out what a newly selected Fx's parameters where thru
those same mappings before it allowed adjustment? All the signal has
to do is go out the same way it came in. In essence the "match"
function would still be used, but the plug-in Fx would be matched
immediately from it updating the hardware with what it's current
parameters were.
This would allow one preset to control everything, and you could lay
out each effect in what makes the most sense to you on the bcr. If
there were any problems or if you wanted to be able to control two
separate fx simultaneously (one not being on top or the currently
selected fx) that's where extra presets on other midi channels could
come in, if even needed at that point.
It is frustrating, because I am not a computer programmer, but
logistically this full duplex support seems it would be key to
advancing the nature of control surfaces. The freely assignable
continuous rotary nature of the BCR2000 could likely just be the
beginning of where we see control surfaces to be going. In the future
maybe something similar will be on the market, even with small color
lcd's above each rotary displaying parameter names. For now, I'd be
happy just having to remember how I've assigned the layout of each Fx.
Will a programmer please help out with this? Thank you much.

P.S. I am using BC Manager 1.5 to make tweaks on my BCR. Is there a
way to make a toggle off button skip though avalable options. Like if
you had a Fx parameter with only 3 or 4 options you could make the
button jump in skips. Continuous presses would reveal values of 0, 64,
127, 0, 64, 127, 0, 64. Is that doable?
Thanks again for all of your help and input.
