BC Manager works fine with both the BCR's USB-based MIDI ports and its standard MIDI ports.
In BC Manager, connecting with a BCR is a two-step process:
1. You must ENABLE the MIDI input and output devices that control the BCR.
Go to the "MIDI devices" dialog box via ("Options"->"MIDI devices" from the main menu), and make sure there are checkmarks next to the BCR's MIDI input and MIDI output "control" devices.
The names of these devices depend on the type of USB driver you're using and on the BCR's operation mode (S-1/2/3/4, U-1/2/3/4). If you're in any doubt, simply put checkmarks to ALL MIDI input and output devices...
(For simplicity, put the BCR in Operation Mode U-1 (BEFORE starting BC Manager): then you only get a single USB-based input device and a single output device, both controlling the BCR.)
2. In BC Manager you must set up a "B-Control" that USES these enabled MIDI input and output devices. The simplest way to do this is to run "MIDI" -> "Detect B-Controls" from the "B-Controls" window. Alternatively you could do it manually from the same window.
For more information, see sections 6 and 8 in BC Manager Manual.
Hope this helps,
