I'm not sure if anyone has made any presets yet for the D-50; at least I don't see them in the Presets folder of the Files section.
I myself own a D-5 (a derivative of the D-50), but I have never written any presets for that either.
So here are a few tips for making your own preset(s):
"Deeper control" probably means that you'll have to make your BCF/BCR send MIDI SysEx (System Exclusive) messages to the D-50.
(Apart from that you can control the D-50 via Control Change messages, but what you can do with that is probably rather limited.)
You can make the BCF/BCR output SysEx messages by incorporating these SysEx messages in button/encoder/fader definitions. These definitions must be written in the BCF/BCR's language ("BCL"): basically the SysEx messages must be put in ".tx" statements. (See "BC MIDI Implementation.pdf", available from my website http://home.kpn.nl/f2hmjvandenberg281/ for all the details of BCL.)
There are several ways of creating and uploading these definitions:
(1) Write the full BCL definitions (including the SysEx messages) in a text editor, then have a program like Royce Craven's "BCn2000 Script Editor" (see our group's Files section) upload these definitions to the BCF/BCR.
(2) Write the SysEx messages in BC Manager (available from my website). BC Manager provides a graphical user interface in which the details of BCL are handled by the program, so you only need to provide the actual SysEx messages.
(3) BC Manager also provides a scheme in which you don't even have to write any SysEx messages. You just need to write a "SysEx model definition file", listing all the D-50's parameters: names, addresses and ranges. BC Manager then lets you assign any of these parameters to any button/encoder/fader, and BC Manager defines the appropriate SysEx messages for you. See section 16 of "BC Manager Manual.pdf" for more information.
You should start from the template file Roland.ini, included in the BC Manager package; you may also take a look at GS-10.ini. It's really easy once you get the hang of it: you basically just need to copy the parameters of your choice from the D-50's MIDI specification.
Let me know if you need more help.
