BCN44: Is this possible ?

2013-07-26 by Phil Lee

Hello folks, this is my first as I recently bought a Behringer BCN44
to solve a problem that I have but I'm not sure it'll actually do what
I want ...

I play drums in a band but for small gigs I play a cajon. As the
other members of the band think that I have chosen the easy option I'm
also in charge of running the bands lighting as we play.

When I play my full drumkit I have a small trigger pad on the side of
my snare which sends a MIDI note to some software I wrote which works
it's way through a list of lighting sequences.

This works well but when I playing my cajon I'd rather use my foot to
select sequences so I picked up a BCN44 with the intention of using it
to send the MIDI sequences.

What I'd like to do is to assign a MIDI note to each of the push knobs so that:

* for the verses I could press Preset 1
* for the choruses I could press Preset 2
* for the solo / middle 8 I could press Preset 3
* for the outro I could press Preset 4

However, I'd like each of these to be exclusively - in other words, if
I press Preset 2 I'd like Preset 1 to release ?

I've read the Behringer manual but it may as well be in Martian. Is
this possible ? If it's not then I'll have to look at other options
to send the MIDI signals.

Thanks in advance

Phil
