so...um...how does one program the thing...?

OK

So like most of my DAW gear...I've had the bcr2000 for about a year
now and have made no head way on making use of it. My purpose for
buying it was to use it as an alternative for the endless mouse
clicking that is associated with computer music. My understanding is
that it would do just that and provide me a way of creating a bunch
of "presets" of assigned knob-parameter settings associated with my
favorite VST's I could save and recall with ease. So as I am slowly
learning...nothing I've ever taken on in the world of computer music
is ever with "ease"

My problem is:

Im unable to program the thing.

-FL sees it within the input and output device list and it
is "enabled"

-"auto accept detect controller" is enabled

-"enable MIDI remote" and "enable MIDI output" are on

-"controller type" is specified as the bcf2000

-driver for bcr is current (2004...the last one they had on their
site)

-OS version for bcr is "1.10"

-bcr is connected via USB and is in "USB mode"

I know Im obviously missing something but MIDI is coming through as
the indicating light in FL says so. **I also have no problems using
the standard "last tweaked parameter" method to assign knobs to
parameters within the VST...however, this will only work if I have
one of the reserved 1-15 presets selected on the bcr**

I'd be lying if I told you I had a full understanding of MIDI
(channels, ports, etc), sys-ex files, the "dashboard", the bcedit
software or MIDI OX. The dashboard feature actually really confuses
me and I think the problem may be here. From what I read....and
read.....and read about on the FL forums is that FL handles midi in a
diferent way than most other hosts.

My understanding of the dashboard is that it's an "interface" between
FL and the hardware. I've downloaded the "templates" aka "dashboards"
that I've seen posted on the FL forums and opened them up. This
confused me even more since what it does is open a "dashboard" and 2
MIDI out channels. The only thing I noticed with the dashboard was
when I moved 1 specific knob on the bcr entirely to the left or
right...one light on the dashboard lit up or shut off. No other
knobs seemed to do anything at all.

Im becoming increasingly disenchanted with the world of computer
music. If I didnt love synthesizers so much I would have picked up a
freak'n guitar and a track recorder long ago. I love technology as
much as the next guy but shit... I love MUSIC a whole hell of a lot
more and it kills me that it seems my gear gathers dust while I
*WASTE* time trying to figure out how to make each new addition play
nice with the other. I've gotta M-audio Trigger Finger in the corner
I've not begun to really start with yet as my 1st attempts at setting
it up were very discouraging.

What am I missing here guys?
