Hi everyone,
I have had my BCR2000 for a few years now but, have had little use for it. At best, I have been able to program my EX8000 with it but, I have several units I would like to program with it:
EX8000
TG77
Blofeld
Tetra
WaveStation AD
E6400 Ultra
Emax II
S950
OP-1
MS2000
MPC1000
... and more.
I have mentioned this before, 2 of the biggest design flaws of the BCR2000 are, the fact that it is not a flat surface (the two levels of buttons/encoders is not necessary) and the fact that it is not simple to print out overlays for this unit (if you ask me, they should incorporate OLED screens that show you the parameter name of each knob and when the encoder is active, the parameter value.)
However, all venting aside, I believe I have come up with a valid solution to changing up overlays.
I am taking some overlays that other users have designed and modifying them to all fit on a single print out. I have contacted a print house in my neighbourhood who can print them for me on ultra thin magnet paper. I will first be adhering another blank template layer of ultra thin magnet paper to the unit first so that overlays can be easily changed.
Here is my next issue. Though I am a somewhat familiar with coding, Sysex has always eluded me. When it comes to the BCR2000, I really just want a box that will let me turn knobs to program sounds as opposed to flipping through hundreds of pages to make a sound. I also want to avoid using a computer at all costs.
I managed to get BC Manager installed on my Mac and am able to detect my BCR2000. How do I now load multiple Sysex files to various presets so that the 4 required for the Tetra are assigned to the correct place and the EX8000's are on another preset, etc...? It seems whenever I import a new sysex file, it overwrites the older one.
Sorry for the newb questions here but, like I said, I have never been comfortable with the BCR2000.
Also, if anyone has any leads on preprogrammed presets for the other synths I mentioned and can point me in the right direction, that would be awesome.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
-Scott
