John, your search for freedom of expression inspires me and I hope others to find a way to help each other.

As a future BCR owner, your news about MIDI being used for non-musical usage makes me hopeful. My concern is whether Behringer plans to keep the BCR (and the BCF) available for at least a few more years. The
non-musical usage I need is a method of using knobs and buttons (and maybe someday faders) for manipulating the various commands of something like 'The Microsoft Speech Platform SDK 11' and a flexible DAW (e.g. Mixbus, Ardour or Reaper).

I'm approaching the entire task as a stroke survivor (aphasia) as I try to rebuild my 'internal vocabulary.' Fun, right? Digesting the 2,199 pages of 'The Microsoft Speech Platform SDK 11' is good for my brain - or at least that is what I tell myself. The idea is to someday be able to use a human voice and a mechanical voice together. Will it be seamless? Not even in my dreams. But at least it should be better than what is available.

best, john
