strange behaviour when using certain buttons. help!

2008-04-23 by mccluredarren

hi everyone, i'm a new bcr2000 user and am experiencing problems that i hope don't mean
my controller is defective.
it always occurs on the 6th row, so the 6th vpot and the 2 push buttons below it. when i use
them, they send random actions. for example, i push the top button, but the 1st button is
activated, re any other button except the one i pushed! same thing happens with the vpot. is
my bcr defective? is there something i'm overlooking?? really confusing!
also, the bottom right group of 4 buttons, one of those when pushed is even weirder: it
activates the panic reset or EG modes(which should only happen if pressing the
store/edit/exit etc buttons).
can anyone help? thanks, darren.

What you could try is this:
From BC Manager, load the temporary preset from the BCR to see the
current assignments, then open the MIDI input message window, press
the Record button and see which MIDI messages the BCR sends when you
fiddle with its controls. If the messages received by BC Manager don't
match the specified assignments, there might indeed be something wrong
with the hardware.
On the other hand, I've sometimes noticed that somewhat confusing
behavior may occur if two or more buttons/encoders are linked to the
same Control Change number, so it might be something like that -
perhaps due to a MIDI loop?

Hope this helps a bit,
Mark.

hi Mark,
that would mean that if I go back to factory settings, everything should look okay, right?
I could try that.
