Where is System Exclusive?

Where is System Exclusive?

2006-03-22 by bvs9000

In the ad for BCR, Behringer says, "Those who prefer knobs over faders
will want to check out the BCR2000, with 24 high-resolution encoders
that feature LED rings and an additional push function. These
illuminated buttons are assignable to various MIDI functions including
note on/off, control change, program change, MMC, and SysEx."

I was told by Kawai, "If this is true, then you should be able to
assign System Exclusive strings with a variable controlled by the
knob/slider position to get at some of those XD5 parameters in your
list."

I'm using BC Edit 0.2 beta 3 and I've gone through every knob/button
setting but I cannot find anything that assigns System Exclusive or
variables.
Please tell me how to create and assign a SysEx string and variable to
one of the buttons 01-08 or preferably 33-48 so I can then apply that
knowlege to the others.
Thanks

I have not found this function in the BC Edit program either. So at this moment the only way to
load sysex data is to use the LEARN function. This is described in chapter 4.3.1 of the manual.

Thanks. Have you used BCR/F to send Sys-Ex strings and variables?
Tell me how you set them up externally and got BCR/F to send them.

I have never used the LEARN function before but I just tried it and it seems to work fine.
Just put the BCR2000 in the USB U-3 mode. To load sysex data I use MIDI-OX which
really is a fantastic piece of software. Place the BCR2000[1] USB Midi IN/Out ports on top
of the lists in Options > MIDI Devices. Open the SysEx View and Scratchpad window via
View > Sysex... From there you can either load a sysex file or type in the sysex string(s) directly.
I figured out that the maximum length of the sysex data string is 62 characters.
Put the BCR2000 in the LEARN mode by simultaniously pressing the LEARN button and
the button you want to load the sysex data to and send the data via Command Window > Send Sysex
