BCR AND MKS50 LOTS O HELP

BCR AND MKS50 LOTS O HELP

2010-08-09 by ladykillor999

HI ALL. this is my first post here. I recently purchased a bcr2000 to control my mks 50 and i have no idea what im doing when it comes to sysex. could someone please explain how i go about seeting a knob on my bcr2000 to contro0l lets say the filter frequency for example. I dont get how to set up the sysex info. do i need some type of software to send sysex? cant i just just share that info between the bcr and the mks50 without any other software? im really confused on how to do this. please be as specific as you can as im new to this. Thank you all for any help you can give

Hi,

I'm trying to do the same but as you see from my previous message I didn't manage to get it to work. But maybe in two we find a solution.
You need to download the SYSEX file which shall be used to program the knobs of the BCR2000. You can find it here : http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/bc2000/files/Presets/MKS50%20/
Then you should load it into some tool like Sysex librarian http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/ (this is for mac), and upload it into the bcr2000. After this, "if everything has gone well" you should be able to pilot the mks50 with the bcr2000. I said if everything goes well because I didn't manage to upload the sysex at all and the BCR2000 display showed me the error code ERR6 :(

You can program each knob of the bcr individually if you have the midi mapping from the synth, or use midi learn in the bcr, if the synth sends midi when you move it's knobs. Sysex is just a fast way to dump a configuration into the device. There are sysex editors for windows in the files I believe.

Re: BCR AND MKS50 LOTS O HELP

2010-08-11 by carbonbase23

I've successfully mapped EVERY parameter of the mks50 to my BCR using the BCeditor found on this site in the file section. It took a bit of head scratching and trial and error using the software, but I got the hang of it and have mapped several sysex only synths with this software.

You can find the sysex parameters for the mks50 in the Vintagesynth database. Look to the links to the right on the mks5o page.

Ive since sold the MKS so im not sure if my script exists anymore.

I may still be able to help tho. Until then, hookup the software to your BCR and get the two communicating, and read the information. It tells you what each line means when programming *button 6* for instance.

Re: BCR AND MKS50 LOTS O HELP

2010-08-11 by Supa

Great news! I made it, without using the computer at all!

First I connected the Alpha Juno2 to the BCR2000, and set the MIDI EX to ON in the juno.
Then I hit LEARN and moved one of the pots on the BCR to select it. After that I entered the edit mode for the cutoff of the Juno and turned the alpha-wheel (the alpha wheel is what is used to change the values). You have to turn the wheel very slowly for a while before the BCR receives a "Good" signal, as in general it shows "Bad" in the display.
Do this for all the parameters and you are done!
You may want to assign also some buttons, read in the link I sent below how to do it.

the problem here is that the mks50 doesnt have an alpha dial, only buttons, and they dont transmit midi info like the alphia dile does
