Opening midi ports

Opening midi ports

2010-11-18 by weeshetland

Hi,

I have got a BCR2000 with the latest drivers so it shows up
in reaper as BCR2000.
I have it connected via USB, and i have midi out to my jd990
and midi in sent from my jd990.

I just can not get notes sent out of reaper Lastest version,
to work through the midi ports of the BCR?
The BCR works because i used MIDI-ox and sent a midi file and my JD990
went crazy so that proves the midi works.
I have used the u1 u2 u3 mode to no avail,
In s1 with master keyboard in to BCR and BCR out to JD990, no problems.

Can any one help me with getting the ports open please?
The message i get is.
The following inputs could not be opened.
BCR2000Port1
BCR2000Port2
I bet its something straight forward but i am not seeing it at present.
Thanks very much.
Phil.
also.
BCR shows up in my xp usb drivers so thats ok.
Reaper moves dials on BCR using preset BCF, and i am aware of reaper not sending. Note before, the latest behringer driver for xp that brings the name BCR up in xp, the old windows driver had reaper sendind as well??
Wierd:).

Go to Audio > MIDI Devices in REAPER preferences. Be sure the BCR Input AND Output mode is set to enabled. You have to enable them separately by right-clicking.

Then on your MIDI track, be sure you have set the monitor switch (the little speaker icon on the track) and set the output (via the IO button) to the BCR in the MIDI Hardware selection.

Hi,

Thank you for that, The IO Button was the problem, all working now and the send and receive from BCR and Reaper are all working so
i am well happy now! thanks.
It would be great if i could control FX parameters in reaper via the bcr but i don't think it is possible unless i have the compliant data to programme and send to the bcr?
It is great to have the vol/mutes/pans and so forth though.

Cheers

Phil.

Of course you can!

1. Select the desired FX.
2. Hit the Param button then choose FX parameter list > Learn > desired parameter to control.
3. Move a BCR control (the control must be set to an unused CC).
4. Done!

There are checkboxes to make the control only active when the track is selected or only active when the FX box is in focus. Your choice.

To save the mapping from instance-to-instance or from project-to-project be sure to save that FX as an FX chain. Next time you want to use it at your new FX chain instead the FX itself.

One last "gotcha" is to be sure that in MIDI preferences the BCR input mode is set to Enabled+Control (the control part is what lets the CC's come through).

One limitation is that REAPER can't write the values *back* to the BCR. So if you switch among multiple track the LED encoder rings won't show the current value. You can choose between moving a control and having the parameter instantly update or waiting until you've moved the encoder past the current parameter value for it to update.

Make sense?

BTW, the REAPERS forums are among the coolest and most helpful on the planet! :)
