firmware update question

firmware update question

2010-11-24 by tode9

Hi,
first post, just got my BCR2000 yesterday.

Does updating the firmware erase any user made presets?

I installed the Mopho presets (thanks for those!) i found here, and then realised that maybe i should have updated the firmware first.
Sorry if this has been asked before, tried a search but didn't find any info.
br,
Tode

No. The firmware and the presets are in separate areas of the BCR's memory, so flashing the firmware does not affect the presets in any way.

However...:

In theory presets made for the latest firmware (1.10) could contain a few features which older firmware doesn't support.
So your presets may have become slightly "impoverished" when you installed them.
So in this respect it might indeed be safest to install the presets again after upgrading the firmware.

What version was your original firmware?
If it was any version other than 1.07, you could do me a big favor by saving the old version and sending it to me: this would help me improve the firmware utility in BC Manager.
(I'll explain how to do this if you indeed have a different version, and haven't upgraded to 1.10 already, of course....)

Best wishes,
Mark van den Berg.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Come to think of it, I dont' even know if my unit needs updating as i bought it new, so my question might have been a bit premature.
I don't have it here at work, but i'll check the firmware version when i get home.

Yeah, turns out it already has the 1.10 firmware, so my apologies for the unnecessary question.
