Installation issues PC & Mac

Installation issues PC & Mac

2011-01-09 by indigovirus@ymail.com

Hi all.. hoping someone might be able to give me some pointers..

Recentley got hold a mac, as I was told everything was just more easily done using one of those. (Something I think I'd argue at the moment)
Anyway.. Wanted to create a new template on my BCR for a waldorf blofeld.. Thing is, I plugged the BCR into my mac, and it doesnt show up. I have run behringers own BC edit software, but when clicking scan, it doesnt find it. (mac is on osx 10.2.8) I've read that it's class compliant and doesnt need seperate drivers (not that there are any).. But I cannot get it to work..
OK, so I then switched to my Vista laptop.. Plug it in, and click scan... and nothing..
I have had this working on the laptop eons ago, as I uploaded the micron patch to it.. but now I can't get it working. I have also tried downloading the 1.1.1.0 driver and installing that, but when it comes to the plugging in, it doesnt find the BCR and eventually times out (I have tried a different USB cable as well, but all with the same results)

Anyone got any ideas?
I realise I can do the export as sysex, and then seperatley dump this to the BCR.. but it would be good if I could get this working in USB (as it would give me an extra midi interface for a start)

How do I get my BCR to control my dw-8000?

I was able to use the "learn" function to do this very thing with my jx-8p, but
the dw does not send out midi parameter data.

Can someone help? I know nothing about sysex.

Controlling a DW-8000 (Was: Installation issues PC & Mac)

not reply to an earlier message but write a new one with a proper

You need to find out which MIDI messages the DW-8000 recognizes. That's
what manuals and MIDI implementation documentation are for. I just had a
quick look at the DW-8000 manual and it seems that the synth has only
very limited support for editing via Continuous Controllers (CCs), but
you can edit parameters via sysex messages.

The recognized CCs are described on 63, the format for parameter change
sysex messages is on page 65. To edit a parameter you need to insert the
parameter offset (listed on page 66ff.) and the parameter value into
this message. Use the BC Manager to set up your BCR to send these sysex
messages or see the BCR manual to set them up manually.

I control my ex8000 with my bcr. I tried the OS X route but my bcr would not load the template. I followed Royce's tips and with win xp I was up and running in no time.

BC Edit sucks badly. I was unable to get it working with my BCR on
Mac, while the device worked OK on PC.

Well, this worked OK in my case (with Windows XP though).

Are you sure BCR is in the appropriate (one of USB ones) mode?

If Bruno's nice tip doesn't help:

For problems concerning USB drivers under Windows, it might help to take a look at section 4 of BC Manager's Manual, available from http://home.kpn.nl/f2hmjvandenberg281/ .

Mark.

is BC manager something built into the BCR, or is this a software program?

It is a BC2000 software editor for the PC (or Windows emulator on a Mac) by Mark and you'll find it on his website mentioned in the "Applications" folder of the Files section of the group.

Excellent Bruno.. Thats what it was (needed to be put in USB mode)
I was looking at the sesction of option LED's yesterday when trying it, but as I couldn't see anything in the BC Edit help file about ensuring this was done, I thought it therefore didnt need it.
Downloaded the basic user guide and there it was..
So.. tested on the vista laptop (no driver install required)
Will try on the mac and report back my progress

And hopefully will soon upload a template for the blofeld (and I'll have a play around with my other gear as well and knock something up for those if anyone finds them useful.

Thanks again
