BCR2000 LED toggle from Remote MIDI software

BCR2000 LED toggle from Remote MIDI software

2011-07-08 by Greg Long

Hi everyone, I am trying to get my BCR2000 to toggle an LED back off from
being toggled on.

I have successfully been able to toggle a button on but not back off again.
I have a button setup to toggle via NRPN 4 and it will toggle on if I enter
a value the same or higher as Value2 in BCmanager.

But if will not toggle off with any value. I first tried a value lower than
Value 1 and that did not turn off the button led and since I have tried
every other value possible.

Any suggestions?

I'm not sure what's going wrong here.
Are you sure the remote device is sending the correct NRPN messages?

And what button setup (parameters) are you using exactly?

In any case you should be aware of the perhaps counter-intuitive way the BCR uses the middle point between Value1 and Value2 as the "border": if the incoming value is closer to Value1 than to Value2, the LED goes ON; if it's closer to Value2, the LED goes OFF.

Hope this helps,
Mark.

Thanks Mark, that's good to know. I think its not working because I am
entering the data in BC Manager Custom output. I found a workaround though
by setting up the button as a CC I can turn the led on/off and keeping my
NRPN custom message it still transmits that along with the CC that has no
effect on my synth because I have CC's off.

My custom message is:

  187 117 127

   187 99 0

   187 98 10

   187 6 0

   187 38 val

Yes, that's why: the BCR only responds to messages of the type defined via "standard output" (".easypar").

So you're sending NRPN LSB messages. That's indeed impossible with the BCR's "standard output" messages; very inconvenient.

Yes, that's a good trick; in fact (AFAIK) the only solution.

Mark.
