getting channel meters to work with BCR2000 in Mackie mode

getting channel meters to work with BCR2000 in Mackie mode

2011-08-26 by OlliK

Anyone using the BCR2000 as Mackie emulation with a DAW and tried to get the LED's as level meters to work ?

I've found this post regarding the implementation:

http://forum.jazzmutant.com/viewtopic.php?p=4637&sid=66e85679b9dc0739f3412d83a8cbfffc

[qote]
It's ChannelPressure (D0) followed by 8 bits.
First 4 bits are channel , second 4 bits are level
So for example , Channel 1 sends a value of 0-16 ( 10 actually) to indicate level in the channel
Channel 2 sends 17-32 etc. These are all transmitted on MIDI channel 1

Here's another similar post:

I somehow get it to work when I set one encoder to aftertouch with BC manager, the LED's are indeed flickering when sound is played.

But I lack the understanding of detailed Midi stuff, so I could get one encoder for each of the eight MCU channels.
Is that even possible ?
Anyone tried this ?

Thank you.

I got it working.
The Mackie protocoll is sending the level meters info as channel pressure (aftertouch).
Since it's all sent on Midi channel one I remapped the aftertouch data to different Midi channels with MidiOx.
I now have 8 encoders working as level meters when I use the BCR in Mackie mode. Works nicely.

If anyones interested I can describe the detailed steps how to do it.

Yes do tell.
Do you still have use of that knob, or is it just for meters?
I would love to get that working.

I have uploaded a file called 'BCR as Mackie emu with level meters' in the files -> documentation section.

Ask back if something if unclear.

Here's ashort video how it currently looks like:

Have fun !
