PG series synth guitar increased volume output mod

PG series synth guitar increased volume output mod

2018-04-29 by gmeredith1@...

Hi all, I've just uploaded a DIY guide on how to boost the volume of the synth and guitar output from the iPG MIX socket out for the PG380 and other PG models. It has always been a bit of a bane, with it's significantly lower output volume compared to the straight guitar signal output socket. This mod evens the volume up a bit more.

No, I didn't have anything suitable on hand at the time, so I just used a range of resistors with alligator clips for quick testing. I started with a 470 ohm resistor on the synth line in parallel with the 2.2k board resistor - the output was nice and loud, but at the maximum and mnimum positions on the synth volume pot, a high pitched digital sounding hum crept in. Funny that if you turned the knob to just off max or min, the noise disappeared. When I tried a 1.5k resistor, the noise disappeared but the volume was still increased - not quite as much as the 470 ohm, but close to it.
