Re: OT - 3.5 mm cables for modular. Sources?

2005-03-30 by Sam Ecoff

I just bought a whole slew of Kobiconn 3.5 foot cables from Mouser. At
$1.47 each, it seemed like a great price to me, especially considering
that I was playing something like $1.90 for *each* 1/8" plug while I
was making my own cables! They are molded, so when they go, you'll just
have to pitch them, but they seem pretty well-made to me. The mouser
part number is 172-3536. With the money you save, you can also pick up
one of those nifty pomona test lead holders (565-1508) which make life
ever so much better. Now if only it would hold the thicker cables that
Blacet sells, I would be all set! For neat color-coding (grey cables
are pretty bland, after all!) drop by http://www.heatshrink.com/b2.htm
and get some colorful heat shrink tubing to put on them. I wish I could
take credit for these great ideas, but they came to me courtesy of
Andrew Scheidler, the AHMW guy, who is also a proud CGS owner. :-)
