VCO's working!

2005-06-09 by charlesosthelder

Hello all!

The CGS VCo's are both operating perfectly. I went back to the
original resistor values, after testing several, and the saw output
appeared. Still no square wave, though, with only positive rail
voltage at the output.

Then I finally noticed the schematic differed from the pcb. The
input to the comparator, pin 5, was to be on the AC saw output and
not the DC. I fixed that and now had a 23volt p-p square wave. The
resistors at the square output were marked for the wrong positions.
I swapped the 1K8 and 1K and all was well.

With all the ins and outs available, it is easy to create wildly
modulated waveforms. No wavefolder is needed after this brute! The
saw/sine shape CV is alot of fun as is the CV input. Syncing the
two VCO's together was pretty wild, too.

This was well worth the little bit of frustration. Again, had I the
waking time to work on this, I'd probably knocked it out without
difficulty. As it was, I was able to play with each section and
understand it better.

Thanks Ken, Adam, and Tom for your input. Now I can start my Super
Psycho Modulation Source!
