it depends on what gear you want to control. generally +5V, but many
designs can easily handle twice that.
It's worth reading thru some of Ken's articles and schematics to get
ideas for your design.
primitive gate sequencer? A 4017/4022 perhaps?
check out the CGS gate sequencer, pulse divider and burst generator
for starters
