As far as I understand, the output of a 555 based clock is a square wave. I
would suggest you build the VC clock from the CGS31 - Digital Noise. Just
omit everything at the 4006 and keep the circuitry before it. This way you
could patch in an external clock if you needed too. I used this VC clock for
a little gate sequencer I built based on a Blacet design and it works great!
