been responsibkw for the entore problem. .. Could it?
Im wondsring there if it actuallt IS CAUSing (oops) a problem by trying to
deag 20 mA to Ground from the opamp.

Last year I was fixing on of JH's phasers with the two lightbulbs in it. One
globe failed, so I hunted around until I found a couple of matching 6V
globes and whacked them in. I had the same sort of problem. Damn thing kept
flashing at the wrong rate. I had used a pair of flashing globes.....

Yup, that's a flashing LED. It probably also has a very short third leg.
