hello, new here, looking to build the vco - where can one get the
necessary 1k tempco resistor? Many hits on google, but no stores... thanks

Mr. Biddulph sells them cheap at $6 Australian. He also ships real fast like
Ken.

For a while you could get them from Oakley and EFM as well. Not anymore,
apparently.

PT146 is a 1k 3500 tempco. they will make you buy a minimum order. so
expect bo buy about 10 of them.
