DC mixer with switches?

DC mixer with switches?

2006-07-06 by Andrew Scheidler

Would there be any problem with replacing the pots in a CGS DC Mixer with on/off switches?

So instead of being able to adjust each input's amount, you would just turn it Off or On. That would work wouldn't it?

I don't see any problems, perhaps apart from popping noises when you throw
the switch, which may or may not happend depending on what you are feeding
the mixer.

I cant see why not, alternatively why not put a switch and pot inline then
you can control if its on and off but also the level when its on.

Yes, this is exactly what I was thinking. Then you could use it like
an MOTM-700 but manual and with a bunch more possibilities...

Re: DC mixer with switches?

I'm thinking about an add-on for my Metalbox Sequential Switch.

If I took the eight individual gate outs into an eight channel mixer, I would essentially have another row of CV controls. I was thinking about also doing this with the switches instead of the pots, so the gate(s) could be engaged (for Reset, Slide, etc) with just the flick of the switch.

My plan is to put this in a panel right above the Switch so all the channel controls line up vertically.

I've tested this out with Blacet mixers and it works quite nicely :)
