circuit design

2002-11-30 by Logan Erickson

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for learning synth
design/circuit design. i know synths. i just want to build modulars..
I'm buildign my first modular from kits.. but i would like to design
my own. any suggestions for reading? colleges are sort of out of the
question, as they are tough to find. at least in the US.

thanks for the help

Bernie Hutchin's Electronotes is highly recommended. That's where most
of today's designers learned their chops, and $265 will buy you a stack
of newsletters and handbook that will keep you busy for a lifetime. If
you have to start smaller, then get the Musical Engineer's Handbook.

yeah Im gonna second Logans call for info.... Is the electronotes
collection a good source for info for people with a foundation in electronics
but not knowing the math behind it all? Obviously a good source of circuts
to build but is it educational as well? Is it worth getting the whole thing
or just the selected "prime cuts" packet??

thanks all

thanks for the link. i'll have to order that. i'm sure it will come
in handy. i think i know what i'm going to have to do.. serios
studying of all electronics, circuits, etc. then of course, when i
build my motm, i'll just analize each module very closely. it will
take a lot of work, but oh well. it's worth it.

I guess mainly i'm wondering if those who are very experienced with
this stuff.. like.Blacet, etc. how did you start out designing your
own. very small and simple i'd imagine. t

thanks!

Invariably we start making modifications to other people's designs. As we
get more experienced, we try a few simple things of our own. Then one day we
throw together something with over 10 chips without thinking about it, and
wonder why we don't think it is that complicated!
