real ring modulation

2006-12-08 by eblake_smith

Hello,

I've just finished putting together a stomp box adapter/steiner vcf combination and it works
nicely. I was thinking of putting a real ring modulator on the other channel and using the
second input on the Stomp Box Adapter to bump up an external signal to be used as the
carrier. I'm wondering if anyone thinks this would be effective or if the carrier needs to be
more of a synth signal to work. Also, if a signal is put through the ring modulator without a
carrier does it just pass through un-modified? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Blake.

The stomp box adapter can be used to drive the RR as you suggest. The stomp
box adapter actually converts low level signals into synth level signals. As
for the type of signall required, anything will work, even down to DC as
long as there are no capacitors in the signal path. With no carrier signal
at all, the RR will NOT pass a signal, but with a DC input into the carrier,
it works like a VCA.
