Cgs synth

For a simple "one octave down" sub oscillator, will the "Pulse
Divider/Logic" (CGS36) board do just as well as the "Sub Oscillator"
(CGS01)?

I know that they both go miles (in different directions) with other
features, but for the basic one octave down tone is one pretty much the
same as the other?

Basic octave down = divide by 2. Anything that gives divide by 2 will work.
Digital stuff usually gives a square wave output for divide by 2, so they
will sound the same.

The difference will be apparent at divide by 4 (2 octs down) though, as the
method of generation is different, and the pulse length in the CGS36 is the
same reqardless of the division, so at divide by 4 it is half the length
(25% on 75% off) as for the sub octave generator, which maintains 50% on 50%
off at all octave divisions.
