Rev 1,2 Divider LEDs and output buffers.

Hi, 2 things. Firstly, I found an old post about adding LEDs to the
outputs of the pulse dividers which presented this schematic:
http://www.ph.k12.in.us/~drew/cgs36_led.JPG
Since then, the board has undergone a revision and now the resistors
(from top to bottom) are 1k5 then 1k. How would I go about adding LEDs
to this version?
Secondly, I noticed on pugix.com Richard says he used 5 CGS-65 boards
as buffers for +/-5V pulses on his dividers and logic module. I was
just hoping someone could tell me how this differs from the original
outputs and what the benefit of this is. Thanks.
