Anyone getting Stooge panels done?

Anyone getting Stooge panels done?

2003-05-22 by elle_webb

I don't see any CGS designs on the Stooge panel list:
http://www.wiseguysynth.com/larry/panel/gif.htm

I'd be interested if anyone's getting panels made for:
Analogic
Matrix Mixer
Super Psycho
Gated comparator
Gate Sequencer
Sub-oscillator
SVF
Sequential Switch
Drum Simulator

If anybody is doing Stooge panels, please post - I'll do my part to
drive the per panel cost down!

if anyone is intrested - i'd be intrested in getting the following - if we could get 2-3 people on each - it would
make everyones life easier!

gate sequencer
analogic
sequential switch
cv cluster
asr
pulse divider
master divider
burst generator

Hey,
I would be down for two of the matrix mixers.

Doing a MOTM style panel for this will require some compromise,
because of the pot spacing, and the design in general.

What would you want for a layout? It looks like it will need 5 input
jacks, 5 output jacks, the 25 pot holes, & optionally 5 switches.

My initial thought is to the pots at the top; the 5 inputs to the
left of its row; the then a switch and the output jack below each
column.

Has anybody built one of these yet? If so, what's your panel look
like?

If anybody has a design for this, I'd be glad to go in on it.
Otherwise, if you have suggestions for a layout, I'll be glad to draw
it up.

I have a 'preliminary design sketch' using Front Panel designer that is
similar to your description above, except that I'm currently not
considering including switches (bipolar only). It is 4U (motm spacing),
and for using pots to mount the pcb to the front panel I don't see how a
3U motm spacing panel will work. There is enough room that the switches
could easily be incorporated. I'm at the point of adjusting hole
locations, deciding if (or how much) in the way of pot tick marks to put
on the panel, and how (if) some of the blank space can be used (e.g., mult
or something else).

I would be happy to e-mail the .fpd file. However, again, it is a *very*
preliminary sketch (i.e., I haven't yet checked alignments, ...).

Why don't you put a copy of your design in the files area so you can
get feedback? I made a folder for preliminary designs.

My understanding is that metal was ordered for widths up to 3U, so
this will probably have to be on the next order if it's 4u.

I built mine pretty much like you described.

A good question - mainly because I didn't know the cgs file section was
being used.

Ok, I uploaded my **very, very preliminary** design sketch of a motm
style 4U Scheaffer panel (so you will need FrontPlatten Designer to
view it) into the cgs files section under Panel Designs - Preliminary.
For me this panel design will definitely change - it is something that I
am working on when I want to, not on a schedule. Be sure to **check
dimensions, hole spacing, ...** as I have not yet done these necessary
measurements. Also, since this is a straight forward interface, I'm in
minimalist mode at the moment (e.g., no numbering for pot rows/columns,
minimal pot tick marks).

For Stooge panels, yes. However, my understanding is that the Stooges
do not accept Schaeffer designs as Front Panel Designer .fpd files do not
'conform' with the software used for Stooge panels [Larry, Dave, if I'm
wrong, correct me].

Hope this is useful to some, Jeff
