DrumSim, trigger amp sensitive ?

DrumSim, trigger amp sensitive ?

2003-06-20 by Fernando

Hello,

Is the drum simulator sensitive to different trigger amplitudes?
Being a ringing filter/osc, I imagine it should react a bit differently
to different amplitude of the incoming triggers...

I sopose that with "usual" triggers (w/ uniform level) the only way
to produce changes in amplitude is processing them with a VCA.

But one of those percussion sensor circuits as in
http://www.paia.com/drumsens.htm
will output triggers with an amplitude proportional to the energy
applied to the sensor (if I understood well)

So I'd like to know if the Drum SImulator -or any other trigger fired
module- will be sensitive to that changes in trigger's amplitude

Thanks in advance!
Cheers,

Fernando

No,

The system I use is sensitive to a transition that passes through around 1.8
to 2 volts. As long as the trigger passes through that area, it will
trigger. If it does not it will not trigger (e.g. a 5 to 10 volt transition
would be ignored, as would a 0 volt to 1 volt transition. Anything that
starts below 1 volt and goes greater than 2.5 volts should cause a trigger.)
