200K resistors in CGS09 Divider

200K resistors in CGS09 Divider

2012-01-21 by Stephen Richards

Hi All

I ran out of 200K 1% .25W Metal Film resistors.

Can i use 200K 1% .5W Metal Film on the same board ?

Generally speaking , does the wattage make a difference ?

There are probably other times this will happen and i'd like to known what to do generally.

thanks

You can always use a larger wattage resistor, if it will fit. Most
times you could substitute a 1/8 watt resistor in CGS modules, too. Ken
may want to comment on that.

More wattage should never cause a problem- other than that the resistors
are physically bigger, and may not fit! :)

1/8W will be fine. It's not like they are carrying much current!
1/2W metal film are often the same size as 1/4W metal film, but sometimes they are big bulky things.
