gate sequencer mods

2001-12-05 by sasami@blaze.net.au

I'm not happy with the gate sequencer project yet, and have done some
further experimentation.

With the modification already listed, so that the unit can be cascaded, a
new problem arose - the reset pulse is now so long it disables the output
for much of the first step. This can be easilly solved by removing a single
diode, though this fouls up the disable input...
But it is not all bad news. In retrospect, the disable input is pretty
useless. It requires a HIGH to stop the unit, which is exactly the opposite
of what a gate sequencer operating as a master would be putting out. I found
that in one patch, I was able to use the reset input just as effectively as
the disable input.

I'll update the page soon. Any feedback from anyone whou has built this
module would be appreciated.

Still no new boards either, though they were meant to go to the etchers this
week. Remember I am piggybacking on a friend's commercial run, so I am at
his mercy when it comes to timing. Hopefully I will have them within the
fortnight.

Ken
