LED driver

LED driver

2004-07-23 by charles kerr

Hi all
does anyone know whether the LED driver will enable the LED to display such things as envelopes, lfos etc. ie by glowing brighter and then dimming over the course of the event, or is it a simple on/off gate display? I would prefer the former option, does this need any mods? as the instructions say it is designed for gate signals where the LED will have an on/off action, and then suggests replacing a resistor with a diode to monitor bipolar excursions - will this achieve the effect I am after? could I simply use a bipolar/bicolour LED and have red for neg volts and green for pos. volts? this would be cool and probably mean I deplete Ken's stocks in an attempt to create a nuclear power station effect on anything with a current.

thanks charlie

On it's own page at CGS site it's said that it can be used for displaying positive going
voltages with some components addition/change, I think. Just read it again.

P.S. Jorgen Bergfors have a little circuit somewere at his site called "signalindikator" to do
both positive and negative display with a dual LED. And Okley's MultiMix issue 2 and 3
also have an amplitude indicator that uses a dual LED.
May be Ken is interested in produce a tiny pcb for displaying pos and neg analog signals
using a dual LED or two LEDs...?
