Preparing Chroma Polaris for potential sale

2014-10-08 by masonhu@aol.com

Hi guys,

bottom line up front:
What pictures and videos are most helpful to a potential online buyer?
 Any ideas greatly appreciated.

background
I bought a Chroma Polaris in college, in 1985-ish.
I hardly used it and was assuming it was still in perfect condition.
These boards taught me that age, alone, can cause decay.

In addition to the standard exterior photos, I was thinking a video showing the following would give a more complete picture to a potential buyer
 - press each key, proving successful sound trigger
 - press multiple keys to demonstrate polyphony
 - press all blister buttons, showing response
 - demonstrate sound effect of benders/slider
 - Skype video call availability

Anything else?
Again, I'm very grateful for any advice.

Best,
Mason

The different versions of the CEM3372 have some subtle changes. On some synths, like the Prophet 600, there needed to be a resistor change so the later version would oscillate the same... It was recommended to not mix them. On the OB Xpander, there was a free warranty update from version B to version C because of distortion on the VCA. Almost all the Polaris's I've worked on were version B. I have a couple of tubes of the version B's that I got from Fender when they dumped all the Chroma and Polaris parts.
I don't find the version B to be a problem, but if you mix B and C, there is definitely an audible difference. Also, between the version A and B.
