Broken Chroma

Broken Chroma

2008-09-15 by mgrossm1

I bought a broken Chroma and when I opened it up I found the fuse was
missing. I assume whatever took out the fuse is still there. Does it
make sense to first disconnect the power supply to see if the fuse
still blows? Any thought on how to proceed?

I hope I can bring this classic synth back to life.

Thanks,
Mike

That's what I'd do. If I had to take a wild guess, I'd guess the failure was
in the power supply itself. Fortunately, it's a simple power supply
(assuming you're talking about the Polaris) for any electronic repairman to
figure out.

Obviously, blow/vacuum everything really well (but carefully and check
for any loose connections. If you didn't already know, you can
download the schematics here:

Good luck and keep us posted...

Sorry for the waste of time but I did not realize this was a polaris
group. I found the forum for the Chroma.

BTW, is was the filter cap in the power supply.

Thanks,
Mike
