Re: [crumar] Bit 99 Service manual.. Does it exist??

2010-12-24 by Michael Ashton

I don't see a Bit 99 service manual in my docs collection -- I'm sure one exists though ..

The Bit 99 is very similar to the Bit One though, and there are schematics for that in the files section. You may find that it's good enough for making basic repairs.

The low output may be bad electrolytic capacitors. Recapping is a must for equipment this old.

Hi Guys,
Just acquired a Bit99 that is in need of restoration. Outside is not too bad, but I think the electronics need some work.

Does anybody have a copy of the Bit99 Service Manual please?? Or even a set of schematics would be a good start.

Here's the list of problems I found so far with it:

1) MB Battery Dead.... Easy fix
2) Keys don't work unless the lid is partially open.... Suspect a dodgy ribbon cable somewhere.. although it might not actually be the keys not working. It might be just that no signal is coming out, which could be a bigger problem.
3) No response from the tape interface it doesn't go into tape mode when the tape button is pressed and the LED doesn't come on... Could just be a dead switch.
4) Very low output signal level... Way below line level... not sure of the cause of this one at the moment. Could be a number of things, but I need the service manual to track most of them. Suspect possibly caps on the output board or in the amp section.

Anyway! if anybody can help, then I'd really appreciate it.

Best Regards
Julian (Fozzy The Bear)
