The Percussion buttons provide the "click" sound at the front of each note to emulate the same sound on a Hammond. The different numbers are the "footages", or pitch for each...the smaller numbers are the higher pitch. Without going out to my studio, my memory tells me that the percussion effect is like a monophonic synth: It can only re-trigger once all keys are up.
