Re: [crumar] Digest Number 31

piher makes the faders, i don't know how you'd buy them, but, they are still
made. i have the list of the values of the faders somewhere. check with
mouser. www.mouser.com

mine has some faders with broken stems, but, i glued stuff to the part where
the stem was and i can still adjust them. i wouldn't worry about having a
performer that looks great. i would worry about having one that sounds and
plays great first. the performer really isn't a keyboard that you adjust a
lot while you are playing it.

the brass kinda sucks. it's cool with the modulation.

has the same two SSM chips that prophet 5 and mini moog have.

tune the keyboard with the tuning pot in the back and hook the jack that
says SIGNAL to the input of a tuner. the SIGNAL output is the brass output,
bypassing the filters and ADSR. very stable, bold tone to tune with, and
nice to run through effects.

i bought mine and i had to do some work on it. don't be surprised if there's
something wrong with yours. they are usually pretty easy to fix. the only
thing you will have a hard time finding is replacement SSM2040 and SSM 2050
chips. besides that, it's a really awesome keyboard. i have used it on tons
of my songs on mp3.com.

if the chorus ensemble circuits aren't working right, you won't have that
really lucious string sound. it will sound kinda flat. but, somtimes i
disconnect mine because i like the flat sound.

duran duran has this keyboard on their first two records. most notable on
"girls on film" you can hear the performer strings during the chorus of the
song.

i also have the crumar roadrunner and the crumar orchestrator. among other
synths....

if you have any more questions, ask me. i'll try to answer them the best i
can.

jason.
