non-operational keyboard on Crumar Bit One

non-operational keyboard on Crumar Bit One

2001-04-15 by Chris

Hello Group -

I have a Crumar Bit One that I recently purchased on eBay. The unit
responds to MIDI but not to its own keyboard. I have opened the unit
and confirmed that the two sets of wiring busses are connected but
still have no response from the keyboard.

Has anyone here had any similar problems and might know of a solution?

Thanks in advance for your help with this,
Chris Holloway

Hello Chris,

it is known that when you connect a midi-cable to the input of the
bit one, it switches automatically to 'local off', which means it
does not respond to its keyboard anymore.
Do you get information when you connect to midi-out of your bit one?

Chris,
This sounds like the 'Local' keyboard control is turned off in the Bit 1.
If you go to the midi settings of the Bit 1, and find 'Local Control' and turn the on/off, that should fix it.
The Local control turns the Bit 1 into 2 units, a keyboard controller and a sound module.
When using a seq. package it the Local is on the any notes you play are played twice.
Once by the keys and then again by the seq. prog.
