Bit One Parameters Listing and Image

Bit One Parameters Listing and Image

2009-05-31 by neurokrash

I'm going to put an image of this in the photos area.

Here is what the sticker on the bottom of one of my Bit One's says:

This Bit One is Equipeed with these additional parameters:

62 - Enables reception of release pedal from another synth
63 - Enables program change
64 - Enables or disables Omni mode
65 - Enables MIDI receive channels 1-16

When used as a master keyboard, power up the Bit One last. Wait 5 seconds before playing keyboard. If a key is depressed when the power is turned on, MIDI will transpose to that key

thanks! i finally know what parameters 62 and 63 do.

one question tho. i can only save 60 sounds instead of 63 sounds that is stated in the manual. maybe those 3 slots are taken by these extra parameters? what do you think?

I'm not sure that the parameter numbers correspond to the number of patches available - I think these are two separate things. I uploaded the information I could find about the Bit One (or possibly Bit 01 banks) which seem to indicate that location 63 is used for the compare buffer, while there is no location 64. I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to save up to 62, but will investigate this once I can get some repairs done.

Incidentally, there are supposed to be three sets of presets for the Bit One, and I would very much like to assemble all of these. I have a copy of a cassette that may contain two or three different dumps, but have not identified a successful method of recording these to a computer, as my attempts to dump them back from the computer do not work. If anyone else has access to any of the other preset dumps it would be nice to put them all up here.

Thanks

that would be awesome! i only tried that one set of presets found here, and found 4 usable sounds there. wrote all the parameters on paper and programmed them to my own set of sounds.

besides new original preset sets, it would be great to swap some user sounds with other bit users. anyone willing to upload your set of sounds?

about dumping to the computer. try to normalize the file before dumping, so that it is loud enough, so that the Bit understands it correctly. if you can't make them work, i could give them a shot, if you just uploaded them to me first!

any luck with these? i would like to try them out too. so if you have the sampled audio from the tape on your computer, maybe you could upload them?

ps. also up for trading my own set of sounds, if someone is interrested.

Greetings,

No luck as of yet, since both of my Bits are still in disrepair. I have attempted to digitally record the dumps from a 23 year old cassette tape; I think I originally taped each of the three dumps multiple times on the cassette. Since loading from the computer to a Bit has not been reliable, and the Bits aren't functioning correctly, I can't tell which dump is which, or if the recordings are sound.

What I need to do is get one of the Bits working, then figure out the appropriate recording and output levels, load each set into a Bit, and dump them directly from the Bit to the computer. At that point I will have something to upload. Even when this is done, it will take some trial and error for anyone to set their output levels for successful loads.

It was, in some ways, easier when using a tape deck, since they had VU meters for setting the recording level, and a fixed output level for loads.

If you can post a set of custom sounds, I'm sure there are some people up here that would be eager to try them out.

Cheers

i am a audio engineer, and i have a perfectly working bit one (done tape dumps successfully), so could you please upload the digitized wav's of the casette for me, and i can try to make them work. i have some tricks, and setting the correct level is not a problem either. if i'm successful, i naturally upload them to the files section all correctly named and stuff! possible?

I've uploaded the temporary tape versions of these dumps to the file area as "Unidentified Bit One factory tape dump" BitOne1.wav-BitOne8.wav - there are eight files, and I _think_ there are three separate dumps among them, but cannot confirm this. If you can get these to load and compare the sounds, it would be interesting to learn your results.

Cheers

ok i downloaded them and dumped them in... it works! not

i checked them all out, and i found 4 sets of sounds. one is the "Preloaded" one, the others are "Factory 1" and "Factory 2". The last set of sounds didn't match any of the lists in that PDF you uploaded, so i named it "Custom1". I'll go through them again later tonight, and make new tape dumps out of them (better quality recording) and upload them here + my own set of sounds as a bonus!

cheers!
