DS-1 problem

DS-1 problem

2005-08-09 by olliestench

I've had my DS-1 for a month now and for the first 3 weeks it worked
great. Now the sound goes in and out, almost like the VCA is being
controlled by the LFO but it's not the case. The sound will fade in
and out as opposed to just cutting. Sometimes when it comes back in
the highest note is sounded and releases slowly, regardless of how the
ADSR is set. It does this in all 3 outputs; high, low, and headphone.

Any ideas as to what may be the cause of my problem?

Also, this place is offering a paid download of the service manual.
Anyone know if this is reputable, and/or worth the $35?

http://www.musicparts.com/products.asp?Company=Crumar

Thanks!

-Ollie

Hi Ollie,

They are reputable. I just purchased a DS2 manual from them.

Best of luck.

Got the service manual and it's good, but none of the shcematics are
labelled.

Anyway, I have it on good authority that the VCA capacitors probably
need replaceing. I know it's a long shot but if anyone knows what
board number the VCA is it would help me out tremendously.

Or if anyone knew the values of the capacitors inside I could just
replace everything. Looks like there's about 23-25 caps total.

Thanks in advance for ANY information!

Re: DS-1 problem

2005-12-07 by olliestench

OK, I played the Crumar at a gig the other night. We soundcheckedand
I left the DS-1 powered on while we watied about 2 hours to play.
When I hit hte first note of our set the tuning dropped about 1/2 an
octave and it took me the entire song to get it back somewhat in tune.
Now my question is this: Since the DS-1 has digital occillators why
would I get the drift? I was under the impression tht only analog
occillators drifted out of tune.

Re: [crumar] Re: DS-1 problem

2005-12-07 by Stefan Rinass

I believe that the DS-1 has DCO\ufffds=>and those are "digital
-controlled-oscillators". Of course they\ufffdre analog, but their frequency
is controlled by another internal circuit.

Greetings
Stef
