DS2

2005-12-19 by jumpeyspyder

Hi
I've got a problem with my DS2. the envelopes don't seem to be
triggering properly.

I've having opened it up and spotted the wires connecting to the GATE
in and out are diconnected.

I have two pale blue wire and two yellow wires but im not sure which
should be connected to which socket.
Can anyone tell me ???

Thanks

Eddie

Got frustrated and experimented !!

I've connected all the wires together one of the blue seems to connect
to the gate out and I think this provides a ground for the rest of the
circuit.
the envelopes now seem to trigger properly but Im still left with a
drone from the oscillators coming back after the envelopes have closed.

Any suggestions gratefully recieved

Eddie

Re: DS2 Envs FIXED !!

All sorted !!!

I managed to find a Music technology technician at Huddersfield
University who has helped big time.

He checked through the circuits and found that one of the two chips
labelled 3046 in the circuit diagrams on P446 were the source of the
problem.
He swapped the two chips between the sockets and the fault changed so
we could tell one was faulty.
(This might be a useful trouble shooting method for someone but I
can't be responsible if it all goes wrong)

Both 3046 had already been replaced at some time with LM3085N chips
so I ordered a couple more from http://www.dialelec.com/

Replacement chips have arrived I swapped out (A)3046 and my DS2 is
now back in working order.

Special thanks also to Janne Lappalainen from this board for emailing
me some photos so I could reconnect the Gate in and out sockets.

Eddie
