All sorted !!!
I managed to find a Music technology technician at Huddersfield
University who has helped big time.
He checked through the circuits and found that one of the two chips
labelled 3046 in the circuit diagrams on P446 were the source of the
problem.
He swapped the two chips between the sockets and the fault changed so
we could tell one was faulty.
(This might be a useful trouble shooting method for someone but I
can't be responsible if it all goes wrong)
Both 3046 had already been replaced at some time with LM3085N chips
so I ordered a couple more from http://www.dialelec.com/
Replacement chips have arrived I swapped out (A)3046 and my DS2 is
now back in working order.
Special thanks also to Janne Lappalainen from this board for emailing
me some photos so I could reconnect the Gate in and out sockets.
