Orchestrator question/problem.

Orchestrator question/problem.

2007-02-17 by thaddeusthompson

Hi, all -

Recently joined, first-time poster. I have a Crumar Orchestrator (as
well as Music Technologies CPB-2 bass pedal set - close enough for
Crumar!). Recently, the Orchestrator has been acting strange and
thought that some experts here could help me out.

The string sounds are sounding more like an organ with a flanger right
now. Instead of the fast modulation that gives the string ensemble
its sound, the modulation is extremely slow. Any ideas on what might
be causing this? It's in an environment that has low humidity, but the
cold weather might be affecting somehow.

All comments appreciated.

thanks,
-TLT

RE: [crumar] Orchestrator question/problem.

Hi,

if I'm correct the Crumar Orchestrator is using an ensemble circuit with 3
BBD chips to generate the chorus effect on the strings. I suspect that
something is wrong in this effect circuit that causes the strange behaviour.
Check the power supply and the wiring. Perhaps a wire got loose? Or perhaps
the power supply is unstable resulting in chips that fail. With almost any
old synth I get my hands on i replace the big power supply capacitors to
make sure that power regulating is alright.

Greetings,

Rutger
