Datacolor User to User Support Group.

I just finally got our copy of PrintFix Pro and had time to spend all 
day working with it.

1.  We cannot seem to make a suitable profile for Crane Museo Max and 
the Epson 9800.

We have tried making profiles with 150, 225 and 729 patches. 
Previewing the read values, colors are grayed down.  Looking at the 
printed charts, many colors are undifferentiated.

Part of the problem seems to be the media settings.  After printing 
out the test media setting image in every conceivable possibility, it 
seems there is no suitable choice that does somewhat puddle the 
colors.

Am I doing something obviously wrong --- or does Crane Museo Max just 
not profile well on the Epson 9800?  Or have we got a lemon of a 9800?


2.  Comparing the profiles I made with PrintFix Pro with the generic 
Crane Museo Max profile for the 9800, the generic is a MUCH wider 
gamut.


3.  I also tried profiling the Crane Museo Max paper with the 
archival ink Epson 10000 but again, there is no suitable media 
setting which does not make many patches seem VERY similar.  Reading 
the Help Menu with PrintFix Pro, it would seem they are not suitable.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Is there something wrong with the Museo Max paper?


4.  The only "solution" I can think of it lay down less ink is to cut 
back to printing at 720 dpi but for fine art printing that sounds 
like a horrible work around.
