Curious minds like mine wish to know. The black tile is just there to keep curious minds awake at night...:-) But you don't need to do anything with it. Beta versions of the original PFP hardware/software calibrated to those black tiles, but some changes and improvements were made in the black calibration process, and by 1.0 release time, calibration to the black tile was no longer necessary.
