Spyder2express uses the same professional grade Spyder2 hardware, and the same profiling algorithms as the advanced products. It simply lacks extra target choices (offering only Gamma 2.2/Whitepoint 6500, which is the recommended combo anyhow) extra tools, and other features, such as projector calibration. Its a perfectly valid place for anyone to start.
