Also: if you copied it from PFP's display in the splash screen, you're missing the last 4 digits, because we "X" those out. That could be another reason why this isn't working; you need the complete serial number with the last digits included for it to work. Your original serial # would be on the CD sticker that came with PFP, and it would be the complete serial number that you typed in when you first initialized PFP 1.1.1.
