I purchased Spyder2 Suite (Not Pro) and installed the Microsoft Color
Control Panel Applet under the impression that I would be able to
calibrate and apply two profiles for both my displays. I have an ASUS
motherboard that has dual display built in. It was pointed out that
this cannot be done on a single Video card within the Microsoft world
unless it is a PCI express Card.
So may question is, if I purchase a PCI express card and using both
the Color Control Panel Applet & Spyder2 Suite (Not Pro) create and
apply the two profiles & calibration data (VLUTs)? If so, are there
any PCI express cards one would recommend or some I should stay away
from?
Since you already have one videocard, the second one does not need to be PCI express, it can be most any videocard. PCI express is only needed to use both monitors on it. Spyder2 can be used to calibrate most any monitor, but it doesn't automatically offer a choice of monitors to calibrate, and does not contain the special side-by-side matching and tuning functions that Spyder2PRO offers. So yes, you could calibrate both your monitors with Spyder2, though not by as direct a route as with PRO, and (by having two cards) could get both two profile, and two calibration LUTs loaded. So its certainly possible, just not quite as easy or precise as with S2PRO.
