Thanks Walt, I've read and followed the help pages on everything but the really obvious. I'm using an Apple Cinema Display 23", dark ambient light conditions, tungsten mostly but occasionally daylight. I should add though (from my years of shooting transparency for starters) I do understand light sources and how they affect prints, and I'm sure to compare with other light sources or at least mentally take it into consideration. My problems go beyond that. I've turned down the backlight on my monitor all the way (I think it measures in the 50s range), to test, and the prints are still considerably darker than what I see on the monitor. Simply turning downt he luminance won't do the trick. I'm going to do some more testing tonight and see what I can find out. I've been over every step of the process several times and so far I can't discover anything I'm doing "wrong", though this may be more of an art than a science. I'd prefer science though, art gets expensive in ink and paper. --- In colorvision_group@...m, wkm@... wrote: > > OK you're new to this sort of thing. I highly recommend you read the help files at each step in printfix pro when making your profiles untill you understand it better. Can't help you with the pull down menus as I've never had that problem. What type of monitor, LCD or CRT. If CRT then luminance of 100 is ok but for LCD I think it should be lower. What are the ambient light conditions? bright, dark? What type of room lights? Incandesant, florescent? > > Walt >
